GOD’S FINANCIAL SYSTEM

Adam originally worked for God. He worked in the garden of Eden. Genesis 2:15 reveals that his work was easy and sweat-less:

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

God had done all the hard work of planting and watering the garden and causing the fruit trees to grow. Adam simply took care of the trees and when their seeds fell to the ground, he nurtured the new trees until they were strong. Adam probably never broke a sweat while in the garden of Eden.

But the day came when Satan tempted Eve to become the god of her own life. She in turn tempted her husband to become his own god. They both sinned by eating of the forbidden fruit. When God confronted Adam about this, he did not repent, but instead pointed the finger at Eve. Eve didn’t repent either and she pointed the finger at Satan. Because neither one repented, God could no longer have them work for Him, so He designed a secondary financial system for those who chose to be self-sufficient rather than God-dependant.

God describes what that self-sufficient system is like in Genesis 3:

17And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Working for God is easy and profitable, but the World’s Financial System is tough. Can you see the difference?

God created what would come to be known as “The Promised Land” for those who would work for Him. One of the very first things God had Moses tell the Israelites as they walked toward their Promised Land was that He wanted them ALL to work for Him as God’s priests. In Exodus 19:6 God had Moses relay these words to His people:

And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.

God was commissioning ALL His people to work for Him full-time as priests who bring the Word of God to all the nations on earth. As their reward and pay, they got to live in a country that was divinely prosperous.
The Promised Land would be similar to Eden in many ways. In the Bible, Egypt represents the world or the World’s Financial System, whereas The Promised Land represents life in the Spirit or God’s Financial System. Listen to how God contrasts the two financial systems in Deuteronomy 11:

10 The land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden. 11 But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. 12A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

Can you see how the Promised Land is similar to Eden? Can you see how Egypt represents the World’s Financial System which is under a curse? The only way to get out from under that cursed system is to go to work for God. His is the only business that does not operate under God’s curse. When we work for God wholeheartedly, we find that the work is easy and the burden is light, yet very profitable.

In Genesis 4 we find two brothers: Cain, who works in the World’s Financial System; and Abel, who operated under God’s Financial System. Abel operated under God’s favor, but Cain did not. Abel was a shepherd, which represents the ministry. Cain operated under the curse of the World’s Financial System which is why he killed his brother out of jealousy.

Which system do you want to operate under???
