HERE IS A SNAPSHOT OF THE PERFECT LIFE…

To find out what your life is meant to be like, you should turn to the second chapter of Genesis. Here we see a snapshot of what God intended for our lives to be like. This is the chapter that details what man’s life was like before it became corrupted by sin. This is worth examining because God’s plans for our lives have never changed, so let’s see what our life is meant to be like. In verse 7 we read:

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Here we see that God made our bodies out of dirt. Many of us think of ourselves as our bodies, but that’s not the way God sees us. The works of our flesh are dirty in His sight. We all start out in life living according to our flesh, meaning that we follow after the desires of our body, heart and mind.

During this time period, God does not consider us to be living, but merely only existing.

It is not until the day comes when we invite JESUS to be our Savior and LORD that He breathes into our nostrils the breath of life, which is His Holy Spirit. It is only then that we become a living soul in His sight. It is from this point onward that we are able to have an intimate relationship with our Creator. We can’t have any of the other things that follow in this chapter until we have an intimate relationship with God.
After God made man, He planted a garden. In Genesis 1:8 we read:

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Why didn’t God have man plant the garden? As we continue to read, we see that God not only planted the garden, but He also watered it and caused the trees to grow and be beautiful and to produce healthy fruit for the man to eat. Man’s only job was to take care of God’s work.

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Upon close inspection we see that God does all the hard work, and man’s work is sweat-less.
Upon further inspection, we see that God intended for us to be rich. This is why we all have the desire to become rich, because God put it there. This is also why God created gold and told Adam where he could find it. In Genesis 2:10-12 we read:

10And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

Notice with great care how the gold was outside of Eden. Eden represents our heavenly life on earth with the LORD. In Eden, man could have all he wanted to eat. This is God’s way of saying that He will take care of the needs of His children. However, if you want all your heart’s desires to be fulfilled, you must expand your heavenly circle by leading others to the LORD. As the Bible says, it is God’s desire to bring the wealth of the sinner into the kingdom of God so that His people can enjoy that wealth (see Proverbs 13:22).

Finally, in this chapter, we see how God made a helpmate for Adam:

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Genesis 2:22

Man was complete with a woman who was created from his rib. The primary purpose of a rib is to protect the heart. The woman is the heart of a relationship and the man is the head of it. Each has a unique role, but both roles are equally important.

The woman allows the man to build a family so that he can duplicate himself. This permits him to fulfill the greatest commandment which is to “Be Fruitful and Multiply”. The ultimate meaning of the first commandment that God gave to man in Genesis 1:28 is that we should be fruitful and multiply by creating spiritual children. This is the highest role a woman can play. She was put on this planet to help her husband fulfill his purpose which is to seek after God wholeheartedly and to encourage others to do the same.
